SIG Sauer unveiled the P385 at its SIG NEXT event. According to a press release dated 22 September 2026 from Newington, New Hampshire, it is a striker-fired pistol that has been completely redesigned.

New Fire Control Unit as the Foundation

The P385 is built around a new modular fire control unit (Fire Control Unit, FCU). According to SIG Sauer, it offers “maximum modularity.” The press release available to us gives no details on how it works.

The pistol also features a new SIG Sauer Trigger Block, which the manufacturer says delivers a smooth, clean trigger pull.

Less Recoil Promised

The key feature is the new SIG Recoil Dampening System. Combined with a low bore axis and a precision-milled carbon steel barrel, it is intended to noticeably reduce recoil. SIG Sauer describes a “softer, flatter and faster” shooting feel.

Depending on the model, muzzle rise is reduced by 20 percent or more, according to the manufacturer. No independent measurements or tests are available to date.

Grip Module and Features

The pistol is paired with the new MagStrap grip module. According to SIG Sauer, it allows grip length and fit to be easily adjusted to hand size.

The P385 comes in black and Coyote Brown. All models are optics-ready for SIG-LOC optics and feature fully ambidextrous controls. A manual thumb safety is available as an option.

Availability and Open Questions

According to SIG Sauer, the P385 is expected to reach retailers in the fall and early winter. Price, caliber, capacity and possible availability in Switzerland are not stated in the abridged press release available to us.

Eric McKenzie, Director of Commercial Product Management, says the pistol was developed from the ground up. Robby Johnson, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, describes SIG NEXT as a showcase for current firearms, electro-optics, and research, development and modern manufacturing.

According to the event description, the P211-FULL and P211-CARRY models and the XRAY5 red dot sight were also announced. The source available to us contains no information on these products.
